The Woodchuck, or also known in Arkansas as, the Groundhog. They can be a pest in the garden with their digging and eating of plants, but away from the garden, these herbivores aren't much of a problem. This one lives near my home and judging from its size, appears to be a youngster. Most folks will see them standing at the edge of the road where they find good graze on the cut grass with tender new shoots. I've heard people talk about the "beaver" they saw standing at the edge of the road, but it was most likely a groundhog as they do resemble their aquatic cousin.
