The hummingbirds made their springtime debut at my house this past week. A solitary male Ruby-throated found my feeder just a few hours after first putting it out. It's amazing how fast they appear when food is added to the equation. It didn't take long before a second male appeared and the fight has been on since. This shot is of the first bird as it perched near the feeder to ward off any others that might try and take a sip of its sugar water.
